The future construction of a combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) power plant in the town of Heilbronn represents a significant step towards modernization and efficiency in power generation in the region. With a projected electrical power of approximately 680 megawatts (MW) and a thermal power of up to 190 MW for heat extraction, this new facility will play a key role in the local energy infrastructure. One of the highlights of this CCGT station is its ability to provide not only electricity, but also heat for district heating in Heilbronn in the long term. This integrated approach takes advantage of the efficiency of the combined cycle, which uses both electricity generation and waste heat production, thus maximizing resource utilization and reducing the environmental footprint.
Furthermore, the implementation of the CCGT plant may have positive implications for sustainability and the energy transition, as the closure of coal unit 7 and reserve units 5 and 6 of the existing power plant is contemplated. This shift can not only contribute to emissions reductions and energy efficiency, but also signals a commitment to cleaner and more advanced energy sources.
LOTUS CONTROL has been selected to supply BASKET AND SELF-CLEANING FILTERS and Globe, Gate and Check Valves package for the Kilombero Sugar Company's plant in Tanzania, which will be the multinational's largest sugar plant in Africa, Illovo Sugar Africa reports. In line with the country's policy to achieve self-sufficiency by 2025, this new development will increase Kilombero's sugar production, in which Illovo Sugar Africa holds a 75% stake and the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania the remaining 25%, by 144,000 tons from the current levels of 127,000 tons of sugar per year, to 271,000 tons
The Salamanca combined cycle power plant is scheduled to begin operations in March 2024, marking an important milestone in Mexico's energy calendar. Located in the state of Guanajuato, it stands as a major project with a capacity of 836.79 megawatts (MW). Comprised of two gas turbogenerators, two heat recovery steam generators, a steam turbine and other essential equipment, the facility is set to play a key role in the region's power supply.
LOTUS CONTROL has been selected to supply the FILTERS and Recirculation Valves packages for the San Luis Potosi Combined Cycle Power Plant, marking a significant step towards efficiency and sustainability in power generation in Mexico. The San Luis Potosi Combined Cycle Power Plant is designed to operate with a net capacity of 804.80 MW at 100% load summer design conditions. Fueled by natural gas, the infrastructure consists of 2 gas turbogenerators, 2 heat recovery steam generators, a steam turbogenerator, a wet tower type main cooling system, main and auxiliary transformers, and all the necessary equipment for optimal integration.
